Between 4 lines should have space. No space. Is it programmed like this.

I was wondering when I post poetry that there is 2 spaces in between the quatrains. As it stands all the wording is put together with no spaces in between the four lines. Is this a mistake or is it programmed like this.

  • Hi there. By default when you press Enter/Return the post editor will leave one empty line between paragraphs. If you don’t want it to skip a line, hold Shift while pressing Enter. If you want to leave more than one line open, you’ll need to add the HTML code for a non-breaking space in the text editor view of the post editor.

For poetry you might also want to consider using the preformatted text style. If you type something in that style it will preserve all spaces and line breaks exactly as you type it in the post editor, thus ignoring the default spacings.

Instructions for both are here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/

Let us know if you need more help with this, and if possible provide a link to the specific post with which you need help.
