Big Brother: nextpage
-
Hi. I tried post pagination using “nextpage” tag, but it doesn’t works exactly as in the example WordPress teaches. Here is what WordPress page shows:
Pages: 1 2 3 View All
Here is what I get:
Pages 1 2 3
Why can’t I have a “view all” link? As my blog doesn’t have adds, I have no problem in letting the reader see the full post if he/she wants…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
That View All link is specific to the support pages, and is not how this feature works on regular sites. I have updated the instructions to explain that.
However, if you think this is a feature that you’d find useful, please create a new thread in the Ideas forum and tell us why you think this will improve pagination on regular blogs. Thanks :)

Your post should still be indexed as a whole, yes. The sitemap we provide to search engines includes subdirectories, and pagination basically creates subdirectories on the post URL, so it should work in the same way that child pages do.
-
OK. But so Google will treat all pages as just one? I don’t want Google showing numerous links to the “same post” in the search results page…

Hi @kixty9, no worries. The sitemap is set up specifically to help avoid any problems like that. Our goal here is to take care of those technical things for you so you can just focus on writing. :)

I found a problem: in e-mail that notifies new posts in the blog, there is no indication of the existence of more than 1 page. How could my readers guess my post is incomplete? Not every post makes it completely clear, the note about the nextpages is needed!
-
Another problem: in the theme the “nextpage” is located below the social sharing area! So it’s like the post already ended. If the person doesn’t want to share, it may ignore the existence of more pages!!!
-
Yes, they are appearing after social icons, but before comments. But that’s strange for me, I think social icons should be after!
-
@kixty9, oh okay. That makes sense. Right now it’s just the way the sharing section is designed, though. There’s a technical explanation here:

It is possible to move it with CSS if you have the Premium upgrade, so if you decide to get that, let us know and we’ll help you set that up.
