Big Brother Theme: Sub menu (drop down) background is transparent
-
Hi: The Big Brother theme’s menu “almost” works well for us …. including on our Nexus 7’s touch …. where the lack of a hover event is covered by having touch simply display the associated drop down submenu. But the dropdown’s background color is transparent as rendered on the touch screen and so invisible and essentially unusable.
The main menu bar is properly somewhat transparent so that the header image shows through, but drop downs need to be opaque to be seen (as they are on mouse driven screens).
Please, can this be fixed? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jimgail! You can change the color yourself if your WordPress.com blog has the Custom Design option. If you have this upgrade, you can follow these instructions to change your menu background color: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Alternatively, if you had the WordPress.com Premium Package you could add custom CSS for your menu backgrounds.
If instead you’re suggesting that the default theme should incorporate a different color scheme I would direct you to post to either the Themes or the Staff Answers forums rather than the support forum.

Hi dgalloway …. Thanks for your reply. We do have both the custom design option and the premium package. We’ve tried various CSS changes and different menu background color choice, to no avail.
Apparently our problem lies with settings the theme’s menu generating codes, which when they’re triggered by a touch event (as on our tablet), display the drop down sub menus with transparent rather than opaque backgrounds.
Perhaps someone on Staff Answers can investigate and help us out ….. thanks for the tip, we’ll contact them.

Sure thing, it sounds like one of the Staff developers would be your next best resource–they should see your post in Staff Answers. Good luck!
