Big picture blog post
-
Hi,
I am supposed to make a blog post for a class on this blog https://lookingeinthepopularculturemirror.wordpress.com/ , but there is no site admin button on mine under meta like there is supposed to be. -
Hi,
My understanding is the the Meta Widget no longer exists. There are numerous topics started 8-9 months ago discussing its recent disappearance.
Be that as it may, if your site still has a Meta Widget, then the absence of a link to WP Admin in it isn’t surprising given that WordPress.com recently removed the WP admin link from the My Sites sidebar menu on newer accounts, and is evidently trying to discourage those newer users from visiting WP Admin, despite the fact that it is still necessary to configure some settings.See the topics Where is wp-adminpanel, its gone?! and admin page.

despite the fact that it is still necessary to configure some settings
It’s still needed for more than configuration of settings. WP Admin is still necessary, as far as I know, to accomplish the following tasks:
1. Delete or edit post categories, at the wp-admin Categories page, https://your-site-URL/wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=category/.
2. Set the maximum number of projects, at Writing Settings.
3. See all of the widgets on some themes, because at Customize > Widgets some widget areas may be hidden depending on which page you’re on, and whether the template is full-width or not. See the topic Edin – Missing sidebar widget, for example.
4. Configure the various settings at Media Settings. -
Amendment:
The phrase “may be hidden” should be “will be hidden.” On certain themes some widget areas will be hidden from the list of widgets at Customize, if you’re viewing/previewing a page or post at Customize that doesn’t display all of the widget areas on the site. -
This should have been included in the list above:
5. Set posts per page (“Blog pages show at most x posts”), feed length (full text or summary), disable or enable Infinite Scroll, and perhaps additional settings at Reading Settings, extension ‘wp-admin/options-reading.php’.
