Hello, totally new to using wordpress but picking up very fast. old school programmer getting back into things.
Im creating my theme from scratch. I have miny bootstrap installed for my CSS and JavaScript. I installed “add custom Css” plugin.
Ive searched so many sites about this same issue, and every code im given doesn’t work at all. however when I had previous issues getting rid of bullet points, and changing the color, and size of text in links…all coding worked find simply by adding it into “add custom Css”
so im gonna give as much info as possible
my files I have created so far are as follows.
CSS folder
bootstrap.min.css
Awesome.css(empty blank file now that bootstrap took over)JS folder
bootstrap.min.js
awesome.js(empty blank file now that bootstrap took over)content.php
content-aside.php
content-featured.php
content-image.php
footer.php
functions.php
header.php
index.php
page-home.php
page-nottitle.php
sidebar.php
style.php(theme name, version etc etc)my add custom css looks like this
ul { list-style-type: none; }ul.postsbycategory { list-style-type: none; }any help here on how to get rid of underlines in links? reasons why it wont work by adding code into the custom css function?

That site is not on WordPress.COM servers and we cannot help with it.
This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites and our support docs do not apply to
(1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
(2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.
(3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
The wordpress.ORG login link is here https://login.wordpress.org/ If you do not have an account yet then click Create an account https://login.wordpress.org/register/ and if you have lost an account password click Lost password? https://login.wordpress.org/lostpassword/
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
See also https://apps.wordpress.org/support/ for app support. Some Jetpack solutions are here http://jetpack.com/support/
Others are in the Jetpack support forum at WordPress.org
http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpackHowever, if help cannot be found at either one then they can file a Jetpack support ticket here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/?jetpack=needs-service

Please read what I posted above at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/big-problems-getting-rid-of-the-underline-in-links?replies=7#post-2885038 slowly and carefully. You are posting to wrong support forum.

My site is on WordPress.com.
So where do I get help??? It ends with “WordPress.com”. I haven’t built it yet as I’m just testing out creating a theme but my account when I signed up made me create a WordPress.com site .
And he info I read isn’t helping me :(
-
And I’m using WordPress hosted through godaddy.
No sites hosted by Godaddy are on WordPress.COM servers.
They are wordpress.ORG software installs on Godaddy servers. -
I installed “add custom Css” plugin.
Blogger installed plugin capability does not exist on WordPress.COM blogs and there is no upgrade you can purchase here that changes that reality. For that type of functionality, you’d need a self-hosted WordPress.ORG software install running on a paid web hosting service.

Ok fine but I did create a site on WordPress.com. ” Crazyjerks.wordpress.com”
I mean some code might help me?
-
That site is empty ie. devoid of any blogger created content. Have you purchased an upgrade plan for it that provides for some limited CSS editing?
Are you aware that you cannot transfer any themes between WordPress.ORG software installs and WordPress.COM software installs?
WordPress.COM is a turn key multi user blogging platform with off the shelf themes for those who do not code. We wordpress.com bloggers do not have database access and access to the template files underlying our themes on wordpress.COM hosted blogs and we cannot edit them. This is a multiuser blogging platform. All blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template found on the live demo site for each theme.
Does Customize let me edit HTML?
No. Customize allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. If you require this functionality, please consider moving your blog to a web host that supports theme code modifications. You can read more about why here http://support.wordpress.com/code/, and find a suitable host here http://get.wp.com/hosting/.

Note 2: You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

Im creating my theme from scratch.
You are confusing wordpress.COM hosted sites like yours at http://crazyjerks.wordpress.com/ and wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting.
The only themes we can use on WordPress.com hosted blogs are licensed and adapted to run on our mult-iuser software the themes are found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and in your dashboard at > Appearance > Themes
We cannot:
upload any third party themes,
create child themes,
create our own themes,
edit templates,
create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes. There is no FTP access to any wordpress.com sites. See:
Themes »Uploading Custom Themes
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/P.S. Also be keenly aware that you cannot transfer any theme from https://wordpress.com/themes/ which is licensed and adapted to run on WordPress.COM software to a WordPress.ORG site, and visa versa. The two run on different software and have different versions of themes with the same names. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
