Big Question mark?
-
Hi, I am showing this big question mark that is within a blue eye-shaped field showing up in the lower right of my screen while using WordPress. Any idea how to remove that, so I don’t see it?
Thanks!

I apologize but I don’t know what you mean.
Screenshots can be very helpful. You can use http://snag.gy/ or http://cloudup.com to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.
Then type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Then please subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

Hi theacquiescentsoul,
The question mark icon on the bottom right of your screen is a shortcut to useful help topics and the contact form — there isn’t an option to remove it though. Would you mind sharing why you want to remove it? For example, it’s too big or the quick links aren’t helpful.

Yesterday, it appeared much bigger and was in the way when I was trying to tag when I wanted to publish a post. Today it appears smaller, but it didn’t seem to be in the way today.
Is this a new feature? Maybe I need time to get used to it, huh?

I would love to be able to hide it too. I find the question mark visually distracting, especially when reading on a phone.

Oh! If this happens again, it would be great if you could make a screenshot and upload it to your Media Library — it shouldn’t be so large that it gets in the way.
The question mark has been there for a while but we’ve been looking at the styling and placement.

If I remember correctly, previously it was docked (not floating) at the bottom right of the left sidebar on the My Sites dashboard screen.
So more feedback:
In Firefox Quantum on a 1280x1024pixel screen the floating icon is not so distracting. However, on my Android tablet and phone in Chrome 65, it is because the screen real estate is much reduced. And because it is blue, visually it is much more distracting no matter what screen I’m on.Would it be less distracting to have it behave more like the Action bar, meaning it disappears between page scrolls?
Just asking out of curiosity, what benefit is there to having it float on the right in the Reader where the content is or be there at all?

Hi justjennifer,
If I remember correctly, previously it was docked (not floating) at the bottom right of the left sidebar on the My Sites dashboard screen.
That’s right, it was docked on the left. Our goal was to increase visibility of the help button and moving it out of left hand menu helped us do this. There are already quite a few links there and we didn’t want the help button to be hard to see.
I’ll pass on your feedback about the colour and action bar behaviour — thank you.

This comes down to giving people the option to contact us or get help from anywhere in their account, without needing to go back to one particular area. So if there is a problem in the Reader, the help button is right there.
@theacquiescentsoul — which browser, browser version and operating system were you using when the help button seemed too large? You can find that information by visiting supportdetails.com.

Then maybe contextual help? :)
