Bigger font size (headlines) not showing on Freshly Pressed
-
When I put this code in my posts to increase the font size in my headlines, it works in the post, but not on Freshly Pressed. I don’t know if this is because I’m using the Columnist Theme.
Here’s the code: <span style=”font-size:200%;”>Text</span>
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We bloggers don’t control the font size of anything displayed in the Reader, Freshly Pressed, etc. More to the point, we cannot chnage the post title size without purchasing a custom design upgrade and doing the required CSS editing.
These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text HTML editor. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts via CSS editing

Why is it then, that everyone else’s Post titles are displayed in a larger font (in Freshly Pressed) but mine aren’t. I use the same code as everyone else? I have the upgrade but it still does not work.

Hi Joseph,
The Reader intentionally removes the title of the post when the first line of the post is the same. In your case, the Columnist theme places the post title on the side of the actual post and you’ve been adding it manually so it’ll also show above the piece.
The downside is that the Reader then, seeing the title is present in the content, removes the title itself, which is styled to be larger as you see on other posts.
In short, change the first line a bit, it’ll start to display as expected. For example, instead of having the title “Test Post” and the first line of your post as “Test Post”, change the first line to “Test Post by Joseph” or whatnot, or something to that effect.
Cheers!

Thanks kraftbj. I had a feeling it had to do with the way the Columnist Theme displays the titles (there didn’t seem to be any other explanation). I’ll try that, or eliminate the title from the post itself since it displays on the side anyway.
