bilingual blog
-
Hey there,
I’m just wondering about something I read in a previous topic about how you can write your blog in two languages, keeping it all in the one blog, and then tag the languages individually so that the visitor can choose which language they want to read (providing a link on homepage to choose the language).
My blog is about learning Irish so I am thinking at times people may just want to read just the English posts.
But I don’t know how do you tag something? So far I’ve just used the categories!
Also any other tips to make this easier to manage?
Thankies,

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Tags work just as categories do. Normally you would add the relevant tag to each post, and activate the Tag Cloud widget in your sidebar. But that widget is defective in the theme you’re using, so if I were you I would add links to the tag pages in a text widget, titling it “Sections” or whatever. For the theme you’re using, this is what you should paste in the text widget (assuming the tags will be “Irish” and “English”):
<div style="padding-left:10px;"> <a href="http://craiceann.wordpress.com/tag/irish/">Irish</a> <br /> <a href="http://craiceann.wordpress.com/tag/english/">English</a> </div>Note: with some other themes you could have those links as page tabs.

oh dear, okay. Thanks panaghiotisadam. I will get a coffee and then tackle this- doesn’t look easy on first impression but I’ll try it for sure.
