Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your checkout process. It seems like the transaction is waiting for authorization from your Google Pay app. Please use this link for detailed step-by-step instructions: https://support.google.com/googlepay/answer/10411023?hl=en
After you’ve completed these steps, your checkout process should continue smoothly. If you’re still having trouble, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us. We’re here to help.

Please ignore, I have cancelled my order and moved elsewhere :-( If this part of the system is faulty, what else might not work properly?

Unfortunately, we cannot receive payment through Google Pay without your authorization. That’s why your purchase was not going through, as mentioned by my colleague. We don’t have control over this aspect, but we completely understand your frustration.
If you decide to give us another chance and encounter any difficulties, please don’t hesitate to reply to this message. We will be more than happy to assist you and investigate the issue further. Thank you!

The Authorisation did not come through to my online banking account – every other recent transaction in recent times has pinged the authorisation flash in my banking app and approval given, so the problem is at your end.

Hey there,
Thanks for reaching back out.
Out of curiosity, what were you looking to purchase exactly? I’m wondering if it’s possible to try and replicate the steps you’re seeing and get you set up.
Additionally, out of curiosity, were you using any adblockers with the browser, or any browser extension of that nature?
Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Hi, I was attempting to buy a 2 year base subscription to host thesandyshow.photos. I used a Halifax Debit Card to pay £60 + VAT. As I regularly buy domains and other online services, I use Google Pay to fund them and my HFX card is in my Google Wallet. On every other occasion using this method, my Bank has pinged me to authorise the payment which I then approve through the Banking App. This is the first occasion where it has been left hanging for 15 minutes before I baled out and cancelled the order.
I was specifically interested in doing this as our local Horticultural group has thesandshow.co.uk on Squarespace and although relatively easy to use, a) has several flaws and limitations and b) anything other than some of the most basic features incurs additional costs, which a not-for-profit organisation cannot really support. Essentially, in my experience, Squarespace is a paid for commercial CMS clearly orientated towards the business sector.
Personally, I don’t need the ‘easy’ CMS options as I have my own hosting package with Unlimited Web Hosting and use WordPress all the time – from Version 3 to today’s 6.2.2. However, I am in retirement now and would like to pass on an easier to use cost effective CMS for whoever takes over when I finally quit. This was going to be a potential game changer for them but so far, unimpressed with your billing system. As far as I know, there are no Ad blockers running on this browser – Google Chrome, only extensions such as Amazon Assistant, Adobe Acrobat and some SEO tools, none of which have ever until now caused an issue with Google Pay. Therefore it would be useful to check put Google Pay and see if there is a problem. I note that PayPal is an option as well but I have used them in recent times and no longer have a merchant account with them. Hopefully there is enough information to be going on with. If you need more, let me know.

You’re absolutely correct that a fully managed system, where we do the heavy lifting for the site, is ideal and much easier to manage for any skill/experience level.
We’d love to help you with this horticultural project. Are y’all going to want to collect any payments or sell anything through the site? What about scheduling needs? I’d love to know about any goals you have and what functionality y’all need.
Do you already own the domain(s) involved for this project? I didn’t see them connected to the account here which is why I am asking.
The personal plan is probably a fine starting place and it’s only $4/month.
If you like, I can go ahead and add this plan to your account and then send a manual payment form over to you via email. That process is more successful when we run in to glitchy situations like what you’ve described. Just let me know how you’d like to proceed. Happy Friday!

Good morning, based on what you have told me and the fact that at some point I will want to move away from supporting our local community group, I will be setting up a managed CMS with yourselves,as it looks like a cost effective solution to what they have currently.
There is a slight problem in that there does not appear to be a download or backup option with Squarespace, that would allow me to recreate the website on your CMS system. The best I can see is an XML file download, that does not translate directly into a WordPress site. Some of the elements will appear but most of the images & buttons do not.
The site on Squarespace is at: https://thesandyshow.co.uk (q.v.) and I would like to set it up on thesandyshow.uk, over which I still have full control. If you are able to advise how this might be achieved in the short term that would be great. Otherwise, I will set up a managed CMS with you and rebuild from scratch. Looking forward to hearing back. Hey there,
Thank you for that extra information!

It is possible to import from Squarespace, and it’s possible to extract a WordPress file from Squarspace. This guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-from-squarespace/ explains how to extract that, and then subsequently import them.
This will import the content, with regards to design, you would need to choose a theme. These themes here are Full Site Editing themes: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/full-site-editing/ and they could give you the ability to make something very similar, in terms of design.
The site on Squarespace is at: https://thesandyshow.co.uk (q.v.) and I would like to set it up on thesandyshow.uk
It’s possible to connect the domains as per these steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/
These steps can be followed at anytime, I hope this is useful in case you may not want to disrupt the live site.
I hope this helps, many thanks in advance!

OK, first hurdle crossed! When paying for the 2 year Personal Plan, I chose Debit/Credit card as the Payment Method. Inputting the first few digits automatically brough up the saved Google Wallet data and I only had to enter the CVV to complete the payment, which was recognised by HFX Bank who pinged for an authorisation and I was able to approve the payment without any delay.
Following the advice given, I have imported as much of the content as the WordPress Importer will allow and will be following through with the necessary updates over the next few days & weeks. Judging by the amount of webspace already taken up by media & xml uploads, the 1GB allowance will be more than adequate for the time being. The Squarespace is bought and paid for by the horticultural group and I have until early next year to make the new site live.
My only remaniing query for the moment, is the internal name ascribed to the site, which retains the original sign up site name: sandyshowphotos.wordpress.com. I was going to cancel the original sign up and start again but your ‘retention’ page allowed me to order using the new name ‘thesandyshow.uk’ as the content domain – shoudl the internal site name now be thesandyshow.wordpress.com? Please advise how this can be corrected. Thanks for your help & assistance so far.

Your WordPress.com site can have two types of domains: the free *.WordPress.com domain and a custom domain that you choose (in your case, thesandyshow.uk). The free WordPress.com domain is used for wp-admin (the backend of your site) and media links to ensure that your website doesn’t break if you decide to stop using the custom domain in the future.
The domain you designate as your “primary domain” will be the one visible to visitors on the front end of your site. In your case, you have already set sandyshow.uk as your primary domain.
Therefore, there is no need to cancel or delete anything because your site is already configured as you intended.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

OK, for the moment, everything is on hold, on the basis that firstly, this year’s Show is in September and our post Show meeting in October will decide where we go next in terms of holding future shows in the coming years. Secondly, as the Show has been rebranded, going forward, it is most likely that we would use another domain, ‘thesandygardenandcraftshow.co.uk’ as the content vehicle. Currently, this is sitting on the free plan and assuming we go for future shows from 2024 onwards, it looks very much like the £7/month plan will work best for us, as it contains similar premium features to the current provider (Squarespace at twice the price!) Better to start this from October 2023, as it will at least cover Shows for 2024 and 2025 (if we invest in the two year option).
In the meantime, I can continue to play around with the free plan until we decide how our future plans will be. Thanks for all the support and assistance given thus far – much appreciated!
