Billing confusion
-
I was billed $42.80 for Professional Email, as well as $18.70 for the Domain Connection. WHY??? All we need is the Domain Connection.

More information on this: I swear I did NOT sign up to pay $42.80 per year for “Professional Email” as well as the payment we send every year for the Domain Connection, $18.70, which I pay through Paypal on an automatic payment.
Yet, somehow Paypal set up another automatic payment for $42.80 for Professional Email. How did this happen? I do not want or need it, and I would never agree to pay this automatically. Yet there it was, the Paypal transaction on my credit card statement! I have lodged complaints with both WordPress and Paypal & asked for a refund. -
Hi there,
I understand it can be concerning to see unexpected charges on your PayPal statement, especially when you haven’t authorized them. I’m here to guide you through this!
After looking into it, I can confirm that the site in question is indeed hosted on WordPress.com. However, it appears that it’s registered under a different WordPress.com account than the one you’re currently using to contact us.
To help us verify ownership and provide further assistance, could you please email us from the registered email address associated with that WordPress.com account at help@wordpress.com? Alternatively, if you’re emailing from a different address, please include the transaction ID from your WordPress.com purchase. You can typically find this on your card or PayPal statement or in a payment confirmation email.
For your security, please avoid sharing sensitive payment details here on the public forum — email is the safest way for us to assist you further.
Looking forward to helping you get this sorted!

Hello Help!
When I log in to my WordPress account, there are NO transactions under “Purchases”, so I cannot give you a transaction ID.
However, I do have an invoice from when I paid for the annual Domain Connection fee for Friends of Malabar Headland (FoMH)(www.malabarheadland.org.au). It was $18.70 paid on Paypal on 28th April 2025 Transaction ID: [REDACTED]. (Issued by Automattic Inc)
I can’t see any way to send you a screen shot by attaching it.
I am the admin for http://www.malabarheadland.org.au on WordPress. I took over from someone else who has now retired. This might be the source of the confusion?
Anyway, I want to confirm that FoMH want to keep paying the annual fee of $18.70 for Domain Connection; but we do NOT need a “Professional Email” account ($41.55, transaction ID: [REDACTED] from Automattic Inc) which I was charged without my knowledge on an AUTOMATIC payment without my authorisation. Paypal have already refunded the amount.
Thanks very muchClaire Bettington [REDACTED]
