Billing Errors

Restarting a new thread as https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/non-public-forum-support/ was closed without being resolved.

I initially purchased a year long plan, disabled recurring payments and didn’t save my card details. I have been charged two subsequent years without my authorisation on an expired card.

I understand that the most recent charge is currently in the process of being refunded. I am now referring to the Oct 2, 2017 charge. While there is a policy of 30 day refunds, this requires an exception.

At this point, I’m a customer who has paid and is unable to reach the proper support channels. Can I be passed to the payments team as this forum cannot resolve my dispute?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Unfortunately that’s less a matter of policy than it is a technical limitation: the transaction is too old for even the payments team to be able to refund it at this point.

I can see the upgrades were only removed recently, and I’m also not sure how our system could have charged an expired card. Would you like us to investigate that for you?

At the end of the day, if the business has incorrectly charged me, there needs to be a remedy regardless of the technical limitation – that isn’t the customer’s problem to solve. Issues due to technical limitations can be escalated and I expect it to be.

I am just as confused as to how the card that expired in March 2017 was charged. When I cancelled this 2018 payment, I was still presented with the warning the card was expired.

Further, mid sometime last year I checked the site due to it being mentioned in a newsletter and the site wasn’t actively serving. Which adds to my confusion even more as to why I was charged for a service that wasn’t active, to an expired card even after I didn’t save the card details and disabled recurring payments.
