-
Hi! I’ve been trying to add a bio and a gravatar to my account but it won’t save. When I go to my gravatar the picture will not appear on the gravatar account either, although it says its connected to my email.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
Where exactly have you been attempting to input this image/information?
It looks like the website link that you have provided is for a self-hosted WordPress (.org) website – so you may be entering your image and bio in the wrong area.
This forum is WordPress.com hosted (.com) websites – for more information on the difference between the two please visit the following link. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
To get access to support for self-hosted WordPress.org website you can follow the link provided and they should be able to help resolve your issue. https://wordpress.org/support/
Hope this helps!
Cheers

Hi thelifeofmellymelo –
Have you tried to save the updates to your Gravatar in a different internet browser?
-
My website is a .com (thelifeofmellymelo.com), so its not a .org ? But if it is, where should I go to switch it?
-
Hi there,
It is a little bit of a difficult concept to grasp but basically whether you are a .com client or a .org client has to do with where you website is hosted.
In your case you are hosted with Bluehost so that makes you a self-hosted (.org) client.
Regardless of where your site is hosted you will still et up your account bio and gravatar with in the profile section of your account so it is unnecessary to consider switching. Just for future reference you will find more direct support for .org issues at the following link: https://wordpress.org/support/
I did however run a quick test with your theme on a test site and my gravatar showed up with in the Cali: Author Profile widget in the appropriate section with no issues. This leads me to believe that issue is either that gravatar has not been set/saved correctly or there may be an issue with your connection.
In order to properly set your gravatar image (if you haven’t already) please follow the link provided and attempt the set up once more. https://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatars/. If the results are the same I may suggest reaching out to .org support at the link I provided earlier or perhaps touching base with the theme developer to see if they have any insight (Theme: Cali, Developer: Athemes) here: https://athemes.com/
Hoping this helps resolve your issue!
Cheers

Hi there,
Just so we’re all on the same page, you’re trying to upload a new Gravatar (over at Gravatar.com) for the email address you are using on your site, http://lifeofmellymelo.com?
I do see the mystery person on the sidebar so think all that needs to happen is an email address matching that of the WordPress user from lifeofmellymelo.com to be added to your Gravatar account. Note this email may be different than the one you used for the self-hosted WordPress site.
@codekmyta, thanks for taking the time to explain the difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites and testing out the theme and widget on a site. Although this site is indeed a self-hosted WordPress site since Gravatar is developed by the team here at Automattic (the parent company of WordPress.com) staff is happy to assist with problems with Gravtar.com itself.

I tried to set up my gravatar and it wouldn’t save to my account, along with my bio when I entered it in my profile settings on WordPress. But thank you for clarifying the difference between the two.
-
when I entered it in my profile settings on WordPress
Are you speaking here of the profile settings at Users ->Your Profile at http://lifeofmellymelo.com/wp-admin, or the profile settings at https://wordpress.com/me/?
The second one, the WordPress.com profile page, is connected to Gravatar.
The first one is not – that profile is specific only to that one site, and is stored directly in that site’s database on your hosting provider’s servers. Changes you make there does not affect your Gravatar profile at all.
If you’re using a different email address for your admin account on that site than you’re using for your WordPress.com account, you need to add the email address for that site as a secondary email on your Gravatar account for the image you added to Gravatar to be used on that site.
-
Hi there, have you tried changing that info in your WordPress.com account profile page? https://wordpress.com/me That information is shared with Gravatar but will be connected to the email address you have set here on your WordPress.com as your Admin email address on your Account settings page https://wordpress.com/me/account
FWIW- I do currently see a Gravatar photo on your forum posts (temp screenshot).

Whoops! Sorry @kokkieh- was called away from the computer and neglected to refresh (and a second time yet again!).
-
Hi thelifeofmellymelo,
I can see two email addresses connected to your Gravatar account so it looks like you may have got this sorted now — please let us know if that’s not the case though.
-
Yes, I have added both emails to my gravatar but still nothing…
What I am eventually trying to do is add the an about me widget to the sidebar of my blog that will display my photo and bio. But when I go into the wp-admin site to edit my website, the bio does not save in the profile and then I go into the profile picture and go to gravatar, and both emails won’t transfer over.
I have even tried adding a secondary account and the picture worked for that but then it wouldn’t transfer to the website.
Let me know if you can think of anything else!! Thank you!!

I’ve spoken to the Gravatar team and they pointed out the second email address was only added yesterday so could take a little longer for the photo to show up on your end.
If it isn’t visible after another day, I recommend deactivating your plugins one at a time to see whether they are having an effect on Gravatar — this is a possibility given the image wasn’t coming through to your site in both instances.
