Bitacle?

It’s pretty much the same thing as Google’s Blogsearch.
I don’t like though how they’re not stating where the information is coming from though. (Granted they are linking to it under the title of the page that you give us) Nor how they license everything under Creative Common when it’s clear that it’s not.

@podz
IYO what to do if a splogger (ie. a money grubbing click parasite) does this to one’s blog [asked the spam dragon while flicking her spiky tail from side to side and breathing hell fire]. -

I’ve had a few hits from bitacle on my hosted blog. I actually see page impressions coming in from bitacle too. I agree with Podz that it seems to be a splog, bit it’s been around for a while and it only ever seems to be an excerpt with a link back to my original post.

Just had this thought. If you set your feed to only use the summary instead of the entire article, than they wouldn’t be republishing the entire post.

No can do. I participate in several blog aggregators. It would really mess them up. (I’ve about stopped using the more tag because of the complaints I got.)

Tx for posting this drmike.
SNARL! I just saw that they are sucking my feed too on http://timethief.wordpress.com …
Podz .. I want these parasites gone, gone, gone.
I think it’s possible that we may all want these feed sucking blog knappers yanked of the teat. How can I we do this?
Blocking that IP address in our htaccess and redirect the bot to a 403 (Forbidden) page for our feed:
Put this in your htaccess:
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} ^212.22.59.251$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR} ^72.78.117.236$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Bitacle
RewriteRule .? – [F]If you’re running WordPress, put it before the WordPress stuff!
And how can we do this?
Block the bot via your robots.txtI’m not exactly sure what the bot’s name is (I’m not too up on all this), but this should cover your bases:
User-agent: Bitacle bot/1.1
Disallow: /
User-agent: Bitacle bot
Disallow: /
User-agent: Bitacle
Disallow: /BLOGGERS UNITE – BAN BITACLE!
