Bizarre jumps (to top of post) while editing posts

Problem: When I create/edit a blog post and change font colours add URLs or the like, WordPress jumps to the top of the post instead of staying at the very spot where I was currently editing, which is very annoying.
I currently use Firefox 36.0.4 and I’ve had this problem for a long time now. I believe it first started with the ‘new and improved posting experience’, which I might not be the only one not to find all that great an improvement.
On another note, I also find it very impractical that if you click on ‘My Sites’ (top left), the shortlink for a post is at the very, very bottom of the huge menu, meaning one cannot grab it easily if one doesn’t have a massive screen.
I would appreciate help with the ‘jumping’ (might be I am doing something wrong) and a change for the location of the shortlink.

Thanks for reporting that issue! It looks like that issue is specific to Firefox, and I reported it to our team so they can take a look. I’ll let you know when I get an update about that.
If you’re not happy with the new editor, you can also head back to your WP Admin dashboard and use the classic editor there:

Our team is aware of that issue, although we haven’t come up with a solution for it yet. In the meantime, you can copy the shortlink directly from the post editor once the post is saved or published.
In the new editor, you can find the shortlink in the “Sharing” section. When you open that section you can click on “Get Shortlink” to copy the shortlink for the post.
In the classic editor, you can click the “Get Shortlink” button right under the post title to grab that shortlink.
I’d recommend using one of those methods to get the shortlink for now. Please let me know if I can do anything more to help!

Our team resolved that issue with the editor jumping around when you add links and and font colors. I checked and it’s fixed on my end — if you still see the same issue in the editor, you may need to clear your browser’s cache.
If you have any further trouble with that, please let me know. :)
