Black Gravatar

  Hi
  I`ve tried to use the same picture for my avatar and gravatar. It looks like I was successful with one of them but the other one turned out black. I did follow the instructions.
  Can anyone help?

  What’s probably happened is that you used an image with a transparent background so it became black. Select another image that does not contain tranparency and upload it.

  These are the best practices for uploading your gravatar:

  (1) Choose an image that scales both up and down in size without losing definition. Prepare the image prior to uploading it and make sure it’s 512 x 512 pixels or larger so it will look the best in the widest range of uses.

  (2) The image filetype has to be either PNG, GIF or JPG. Make sure the file name contains only letters and numbers – no special characters – and make sure all letters are in lowercase.

  (3) Also make sure the image file name has an extension (Example – image.jpg)

  (4) Note that there is a time delay while your gravatar image propagates. In some cases the change takes days to appear.

  (5) If you are experiencing problems then go to the gravatar site http://en.gravatar.com/ and carefully read the FAQs as it contains common questions about why gravatars are not displaying, etc. and answers to them http://en.gravatar.com/site/faq/

  Thank you for the reply timethief. The background of the image is black (it`s a galaxy photo) and it did work with the avatar but not gravatar.
  When I tried to use the same photo for the gravatar, I followed the instructions and got to crop the photo here and it looked fine on the preview. But the end result was black.

  I have read a bit info on gravatars now but couldn`t find anything on black ones.

  I would simply choose another image that displays well and downsizes without losing image quality.

  Hi, I clicked “block images” on my “manage my gravatar” page. I thought I could insert new ones. But my gravatar is now black, and my gravatar page won’t let me add new images or crop (the page is just blank even though I’ve added new images). I’ve looked everywhere for how to unblock gravatar images, but can’t find answer. Can you help? Thank you!

  I’ve never heard of this before, but I think you may have to ask at Gravatar.
