Black-LetterHead Theme question
-
it’s ok, people can hit back on their browser until it gets fixed, not that big of a deal, it would just be nice to have it fixed if they can. :)
-
Don’t get your hopes up. I reported a whole bunch of bugs in Chaos Theory nearly two weeks ago and as far as I can tell only one has been fixed. And another one in Sweet Blossoms… ooh, probably getting on for two years ago, which is still there. You have a slightly better chance of getting this one seen to, as it’s a problem with functionality rather than presentation, but they may argue that the behaviour was intended by the original designer and it’s outside their remit to mess with it. Realistically, if you have a problem with a theme your best option is to switch themes.

ok, so I decided to say whatever and went to try to activate a new theme, tweak it, etc. When you click on preview and than try to click activate it redirects to a full page preview, with no option to activate a new theme.
-
What browser/version and operating system are you using?
In the upper right hand corner of the theme preview window, it should have a link that says, “activate _________”. If you click on that, then it will acivate the theme. If that link is not there, I would suggest logging out of wordpress, clearing your browser cache and cookies and then logging back in.
-
hmm I’ll try that, thank you. I did see the activate option, but by the time I move to click it the window redirects. But I’ll log out and clear the cookies, thank you!

yeah, figured it out… was using Safari, switched to Firefox and it works fine.
I’d still love to use the black letterhead theme though :(
-
If you are using Safari 2.x.x then yes, the activate option is funky. If you are using the beta version of Safari 3 then the activate theme function under presentation work as it is supposed to.

The beta is quite nice, but TinyMCE, the post and page editor used by wordpress, still does not support it, which is too bad. My preferred browser is Safari, but I always use Firefox for anything on wordpress.
-
same here, but safari seems to work best if using the tag surfer feature, it gets all weird in firefox

Any news on a header link fix? I too am using the theme with a custom header and am leaving my readers stuck on single pages should they choose to view individual posts. Please WordPress, fix me!

There is no word. In the meanwhile, I have three suggestions for things you can do:
(1) You could place a link to your home page into a text widget and place it at the top of your sidebar for your readers’ use.
(2) You could select to allow the text for your title to appear on your header hence, providing a “home page” link.
(3) You could remove your custom header and again select for the title text to display hence, providing a “home page” link.
