black strip under header / twenty eleven part 2

I tried to follow advoce from here:

but i dont see those lines on my stylesheet. I want to lose the black nav bar that says “home, sample page and search” because I will place those in an image map in my header graphic.

First, please note that the CSS posted at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/black-strip-under-headertwenty-eleven?replies=22#post-715189 should work. In your case, for a blog not hosted here at WordPress.com, you need to add the CSS to the bottom of the style.css or you need to install the Custom CSS plugin and then add the CSS to the Appearance → Edit CSS page.
