Black (white) out issue
-
I have a serious issue with my wordpress.com site and wondering if anyone has a solution.
I’ve been building up my wordpress.com site for a few months (the site is not associated with my ID shown on this forum). A couple days ago I purchased two options (domain mapping and custom CSS design). Soon after the purchase, I realised that each time I click an internal link (link within my site), my browser goes black out for three seconds.
To be more specific, it seems my brower quickly loads a new page (with no contents), but after the load completes, it takes three seconds to show the page’s content.
I’m using Twenty Fourteen as my theme. When I use Twenty Thirteen, the same issue occures but the only difference is that it doesn’t go back out but white out for three seconds.
I haven’t changed any settings on my computer (other than I was trying some different settings on dashboard of wordpress.com) and this issue never happens with dozens of other websites.
I temporally stopped domain mapping function, but the issue still stays the same. I did click some functions on the Customize panel (which appears on the right side) before the issue begins but hasn’t written my custom CSS code yet.
Does any have a same problem?

Hi, thank you very much for your kind advice.
As for the URL, I should show it, but I’d like to keep it confidential until I complete building the site.
FYI, IE11 works perfectly fine on my wordpress.com site and any other sites.
The issue just happened some days ago (end of December) with Firefox26, on my site only.
My Firefox brower works perfectly fine with any other websites (including any wordpress.com blogs and non-wordpress.com sites), but the problem only happens when I see my wordpress.com site.If Firefox shows same problem on any websites, I would understand that the issue is with Firefox, but what I don’t understand is that it only happens with my wordpress.com site only. And this issue never happened before (I’ve been building my wordpress.com site for some months).
I also have one more wordpress.com site (which is attached with this ID shown on this forum), using same theme (Twenty Fourteen) and my Firefox has no problem with the black-out issue.
The issue with the other site happened shortly after I purchased CSS custom design option from wordpress.com store and started changing settings like colors (but I haven’t added any custom codes).

Hi, thanks again. I now think the issue is something to do with wordpress.com’s custom CSS function.
It never happened until I purchased custom CSS option and started changing the settings (I thought I only changed colors but I realized I did change some other settings like fonts, but no original CSS code added yet).
I also found out, while the customize menu bar appears on the right side, it works fine, but once it cancelled, the black-out-for-three-second issue happens again.
And now IE11 has a similar issue. The difference is that it doesn’t go black out but white out for about one second.

Hi there – Is the only issue that when you cancel out of the customizer, the screen blanks out for a second before your blog loads? If so, that’s normal – when you open or close out of the customizer, the screen reloads. How long that takes depends on your connection and your browser cacheing.
If that’s not it, can you please reply with the email address of your other user account? The email will appear as redacted in the public forums, but I’ll be able to see it and use it to look up your blog, so I can take a look at what’s happening.

Hi, thank you and sorry for my slow response.
The issue has somehow changed since then and I’ve been trying to figure out myself… the black out issue used to happen for the entire site, but it is now just for some parts. When I reload, website title, tagline and article titles black out for three seconds (or even more) while the rest of the contents reload instantly.
The issue does not occure while the customizer panel (window) runs on the right side. And after I cancel the cusomizer panel, the issue starts again and always stays until I start the customizer panel.
This issue only happens with Firefox26 and does not happen with IE11. This issue happens with Firefox26 even after I log out from the website and delete all the cookies and cache. And when I disable Javascript from wordpress.com, the issue disappears even with Firefox26. I don’t know it the problem happens with Mac Firefox or other environments.
And my other site associated with this ID on this forum has no trouble at all, even with the Firefox26.
If I type my email address, does wordpress.com forum automatically hide the entire address? or does someone hide it manually after a while?
-
Hi there – It automatically redacts it from the public forums.
It would really be helpful if you could make a screenshot of this. Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload it to either blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

Thank you eurello. I know it would be better to discuss it on this forum for anyone who might face similar issues, but would it be possible for me to email you?
-
Eurello, thank you very much for your support.
Now I guess this issue is with my environment (Firefox) only….not happening to others….I couldn’t find similar troubles on this forum… I just decided to leave it.
