  I should add this is primarily an issue when I try to write a post, which with the new format looks ugly and very hard on the eyes.

  I’m having the same problem! It’s very stressful for my eyes to try to work with the black background. I’m searching the help topics, but haven’t yet stumbled on a solution. Maybe someone else or perhaps even the WordPress techs can address this…
