  My site: http://susanaellisauthor.wordpress.com is being blacklisted by Norton. I do not understand how this happened or how to correct this. Can you help?

  Hi there,

  I’m sorry to hear that you are having these issues with Norton! This has happened a couple of times, and in each case as long as you are not doing anything like pulling image content from infected sources, a re-scan from Norton has had to be done and after that scan, nothing has been found. Norton will then mark your site as being clear!

  The problem is that Norton won’t rescan it until I verify ownership, which I can’t do because I have no way of inserting a meta tag on a WordPress.com blog.

  We allow verification codes to be added to sites in our Webmaster verification tools:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

  Yes, for Google, Bing, and Pinterest. But not for Norton. And Norton is causing the problem.

  amightywp, they won’t rescan the site until I verify ownership of it. And I can’t because WordPress doesn’t allow me the option of inserting a metatag that Norton will recognize.

  I looked into this further for you. Here’s the Norton report for your site:

  It looks like there’s content in this post that is tripping their malware/virus warning:

  If you modify/remove that post, then the next time Norton crawls your site you should be okay.

  Actually, it mentions three problems, only one of which is named.

  I’m still looking for a way to insert a Norton meta tag in my WordPress blog.

  Please answer that questions.

  We do not currently have a mechanism to insert a Norton verification tag into your blog.

  If you are being blacklisted by Norton, you can remove the offending content and it should sort things out with them.
