Blackmail email threatening porn backlinks to remove google index

    A malicious user has contacted my wordpress account threatening to create porn backlinks to my site unless I pay for their web services. I have screenshots if needed. The email came from picrights.com.

    Sorry to hear about this. It’s worth noting that picrights.com was created with WordPress.org software and isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, which means we have no access to or control over it:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    I appreciate receiving these emails is unsettling but I recommend ignoring them — Google have now made changes to minimise this tactic. Instead, you could sign up for Google WebMaster Tools and disavow links:

    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/2648487?hl=en

    As far as I know, this should also provide the option to dispute flags added to your site by Google.
