blank box when posting or previewing
-
When I am posting something new, or previewing a post, a blank white book appears blocking my view. I must remove it before I can continue or see the work.
I suspect that it is something to do with security certificates. I’m using mozilla and I’ve had a couple of strange incidents involving certificates.
Oh, and I can’t edit at all in Chrome, but that’s a separate issue.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
That sounds odd — can you please make a screenshot of that blank box you see? You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can use an online service like Snaggy. That should help me understand what’s going on here.

OK

Hi there,
Thanks for sending that screenshot. If you wait for the content in that window to load, you’ll see a message that looks something like this:
This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to onthenorthriver.com, but we can’t confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site’s identity can’t be verified.
That’s actually pretty normal, because of how security certificates for WordPress.com sites are signed. You can read more about the issue here: HTTPS
If you wait for that pop-up content to load, you’ll also see a section at the bottom that says “I Understand the Risks.” You can take a look at that section and click the “Add Exception” button there to make an exception for your site. That will stop that pop-up from appearing when you do things like preview posts on your site.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

In my initial question I mentioned I wondered if it was a security cert issue, thing is I have waited. The box doesn’t load any text, it stays blank. At least in any reasonable period of time that I have waited.
I have already added an exception for WordPress, but that was a while ago. I’ll wait for that box to come up again and then I’ll wait until text appears or I get hungry. In the meantime I’ll research how to proactively add sec/cert exceptions.
Thanks for the reply,

Follow up.
No text ever loads, the box stays blank.
In another issue, (same computer) I can’t login to comments on the site “InstaPundit”. A Mozilla window blocks it and doesn’t give me the option of continuing. All this leads me to believe that this is a Mozilla problem on both counts.

We have some tips on adding an exception here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#frequently-asked-questions
Just make sure that the URL you add the exception for is *.wordpress.com.

It does seem like there may be an issue with Firefox. Can you make sure you’re running the most up to date version? You can see the current version here:
Do you have this issue with any other browsers, like Internet Explorer?
