Blank Canvas Theme, comments enabled but not working
-
Hi there,
Comments are enabled for pages on the trial site:
https://varshasc.wordpress.com/
However, the comment section does not appear on the pages. It appears the issue is somehow associated with the Blank Canvas theme, https://wordpress.com/theme/blank-canvas-blocks/.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @supernovia,
I’m not using Full Site Editing at present, also clicking on Beta Editor gives “The page requested does not exist”.
Regarding enabling the comments, I have enabled Comments on both the pages on the site, yet, the comments section does not appear on either of the pages. I tried changing the templates as well with no success.

Ok, so we need to add the Post Comments block to display the Comments section. It is not displayed by enabling the Comments from Post/Page settings. Is that correct?
Does this apply to all the new themes that have been recently introduced?

It applies to any themes that don’t already have a comments section set for the site editor. Most of the themes should have this functionality.
The “Blank Canvas” theme, by its very nature, is a blank canvas where nothing is defaulted, so in this instance you would need to add the comments block if you’re building a site using the Blank Canvas theme.
Hope that helps!

I feel the option to add Post Comments block should be added in the Comments documentation.

Our team is still working on the documentation for the new blocks introduced in WordPress 5.9. We couldn’t finalise the docs until the final version was launched, which only happened this week, but they should be available soon.
