    Hey wordpress users,

some of my (older) friends were trying to find my travel blog, but it doesn’t show on a google search. Is there a way I can enable a feature for it to be found there?

The blog linked to your username has the blog visibility set to
    “private”. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

It takes time and frequent publication of fresh content on a publicly visible blog to attract search engine attention. You can verify your blog ownership by using this process. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Now you have deleted the blog linked to your username you will want to change which blog your username is linked to. It’s very easy to do. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Sure you can the basic things first.

    1) Make sure your blog is not private. At present it is private and I can’t view it so I doubt if google bots can;

    2) SEO – Search Engine Optimization – is not an exact science because Google keeps changing its algorithm. Recently they changed once again so that the tricks people were using to abuse the Internet Search Engines have been blocked.

    3) Last but not least, you should keep reading whatever documents Google issues for Webmasters. There are plenty of them and IMHO it is a full-time job in itself.

    4) Wait for about two months until your site has settled down and other major search engines have also caught up with it. BING is another one you should not ignore it.

Apart from these steps, there is nothing you can do apart from paying google for the ADS.

    Good luck.

I can’t believe I forgot to make it public. However, it says my website has still received 90 hits even though it was private?

Stats are recorded on private blogs.
Private blogs, which can be viewed only by users chosen by the administrator, now track the page views of all of their users. Traditionally we have omitted the views attributed to a blog’s own users because stats were meant to reflect the activity of the general public. However, this meant that private blogs had no useful stats reports. This change will be especially useful for private blogs that have many users.

    I have two questions now:
    1. when I try to verify this blog with google webmaster tools, I get this message:

Blocked by line 3: Disallow: /
Detected as a directory; specific files may have different restrictions

    2. Does my blog read private now?

Question 1 answer> I don’t know why you are seeing that. I’ll flag this thread for Staff attention.

Question 2 answer > No http://findingnamazu.wordpress.com is now a public blog that I can read.

Question 3 answer > you can change the blog your username is linked to here > Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes. Then every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. I checked the results of requesting the “robots.txt” file for both your blog and my blog (which is being indexed OK in Google), and they are now the same (aside from where the blog names are provided). So I think making the blog public accomplished this. The next thing to do is wait for Google to realize that this change has taken place. That could take longer than routine crawling and indexing, but re-doing the submissions to Google might help.

FYI, I never submitted anything to Google. My blog URL was shown on some other sites, so Google could get it that way. And there may be other feeds for public blog lists going on, too.

Anyway, I think you are good to go, now.

thanks man! you’re website is great, I’m such a political junkie, and it’s great to see some anti-partison viewpoints. I’m personally a libertarian socialist. Can you give me some hints on how you got so much messages?
