Blank pages when I try to edit or add content

    My sites (penscratch, penscratch 2) have stopped working. They were fine until May 2021. If I click edit I receive a blank page. If I click ‘write’ the same happens, a page tries to appear and then goes blank. Therefore, I am unable to edit or add content, apart from uploading media to the library. I use firefox and have updated it, I haven’t touched or changed anything else.

    Hi there!

    My sites (penscratch, penscratch 2) have stopped working.

    I just checked on your site atelierviviennefrance.wordpress.com and I was able to open the page editor as well as the new post/page editor without any issues. Do you get the blank page when trying to edit any page or does the problem occur when trying to edit a particular set of pages?

    Could you please try the following steps and see if they help?

    * Clear your browser cache and then try again. Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
    * Try logging in from a different browser/computer/internet connection than the one you normally use.
    * Try logging in from Incognito/Private browsing mode.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your help. I cleared the browser cache and recent history. I tried both firefox 63.0.3 and safari (am on a MacBook OS X9.5) and I still have blank pages when I try to edit anything, it doesn’t matter what page or which blog site. I logged in from my tablet and can edit with the browser (android).

    I prefer using classic… it is easier as my blogs were created some time ago.

    Any suggestions?

    I can see that classic editor is advertised under plugins, requiring an upgrade to a business site. Could this be the issue? Has classic editor been removed, even though it was still functioning until recently and this is how I created my site? I chose wordpress rather than WIX, for example, because I found it easy to edit. I tried to log in as private browser also, through safari, and it still shows a blank page when I click all edit buttons or write.

    I believe what you are experiencing may be related to your MacBook’s operating system. OS X 9.5 is something we’re not able to find any information on. Could you double-check the operating system version of your MacBook please and let us know what you find? Thanks so much. :)

    Ok, Firefox 63 is a bit older than we can support, and the Safari included with macOS 10.9.5 would be as well.

    We can only officially support the current version of browser and one version back, so that would be Firefox 90 and 89, and Safari 14 and 13.

    Are you able to update macOS to the latest, or at least further than 10.9.5? The current version is 11.5.1.

    If you cannot, or you cannot update far enough to use Firefox 89 or higher or Safari 13 or higher, it’s possible that Firefox’s extended support release may work. That is currently at 78.12.0: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-esr
