Blask – Remove Feature Image From Blog Posts
-
I always set a feature image, but don’t want it at the top of the blog post as it appears too large & distorted – I want to choose where I place my image within my post.
I’m sure there used to be a setting to hide it within the post, but I can’t find it on Blask.
Would CSS be able to hide the featured image from within the post?
Thank you

Hi there, this custom CSS will remove the featured image from single post pages for you.
.single .featured-image { display: none; } -
-
Hmmm, it’s working for me, but could you verify that you are wanting this for single blog posts, such as this one, https://amandalakey.art/2017/12/31/ultra-violet/ off of your Latest News blog posts page, and not portfolio projects?
-
Hi, double checked and it’s not working.
The portfolio is fine, I just want to remove the feature image from within (showing at the top) of blog posts.
For example, In this post https://amandalakey.art/2018/04/07/spring-unfolding/ I want to put the ‘hello spring’ design within my post in its correct proportions, I also want to set it as a feature image to the post, but obviously don’t want it to appear twice within the post.
I noticed that email followers do not see feature images unless they click on read more, so I need to be able to put my feature images within posts.
I am grateful for your help sacredpath thank you.

Hi, I just tried the code on the spring unfolding post, and it makes the featured image disappear. If you wish the Spring Unfolding issue you are now using as a featured image, you have to insert that image into the post content area and then also leave it set as a featured image, so you will have to use the code and take the additional step of adding it to the post content.

Hi,
I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I copied and pasted the code from this page and added to CSS.
Following your latest advice, I added Hello Spring design into the post and also have it set as featured image. However the feature image is still shown within the post at the top, so it is now showing twice? -
In your Customizer, you have the code saved as a Draft. You need to click the little gear icon on the blue button at the top and select Published for the CSS to be applied to your site.

Wow, and just like magic! I had wondered about the save draft button, as it was ‘publish’ the last time I used CSS, but thought it was just a new change to customizer that had passed me by, so didn’t pay it much attention. I had not even noticed the gear icon!
Though you won’t remember, (I have had several site names until settling on my own name). You have helped me a lot with the various themes I have used over the years, and I knew I could trust your knowledge and advice.
I really appreciate it, thank you so much Sacred Path!

Yeah, that caught me too, and I work for WordPress. :)
The draft option is nice since you can save stuff without having to apply it right at the time and then continue to work on things before you actually publish everything and apply it to the site.
Sometimes I think the web moves too fast. :)
You are welcome, and thanks for the kind words.
