Blask Theme – Reordering the portfolio projects

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I am struggling to figure out how exactly do you reorder the portfolio (projects)?

Some of my projects are landscape and some are portrait, would like to alternate each project so it looks more like the theme and that not all the portrait projects are next to each other and vice versa with the landscape projects.

I am working in the visual editor.

    Thank you,

Hi there, according to this Staff reply https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/portfolio-90/#post-3293888 Portfolio projects are ordered by date, newest to oldest, and it’s not possible to rearrange them except by changing their publish date.

You can learn more about working with Blask here https://wordpress.com/theme/blask

And more about Portfolios here https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/ (Make sure to read the additional info at the bottom of that page.)

Let us know if you have any other questions about this.

    Hi folks,

Although it might be true that on a typical theme projects will display in reverse-chronological order, this isn’t necessarily the case on the Blask theme, due to its incorporation of the Masonry javascript grid-layout library. See the explanation by staff member @dcoleonline in the topic Re-ordering portfolio projects as to why on Blask portfolio project order depends upon both the publish date and the featured image size of projects. In that topic, @dcoleonline says:

Blask uses a Javascript library called Masonry which automatically fits the portfolio images together to maintain the grid. On my test, I added portfolios without images, so they were all the same size on the front page. This made them appear in reverse chronological order because their size/shape meant that the grid didn’t have to reposition them to fit nicely.

However with images of mixed sizes/shapes, the grid’s logic takes over to decide where to put each image. So in this case, it isn’t possible to force the order by using the date if the featured images for portfolios vary in their size/shape.

Other relevant topics may be found in the Blask, masonry, and project order tag archives of the support forums.
