Blask Theme Update?
-
I’ve always been a fan of the “Blask” portfolio theme, and wonder if Automattic has any plans to update this theme as being blocked-based?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @flyingdisc, we would be happy to pass along the feedback. What do you like best about it that you’re struggling to find in block-based themes?

Hi @supernovia
I like the fixed menu in the left sidebar on Blask, similar to the premium theme Moka (by Ellen, who worked to design Twenty Twenty-One).
As a portfolio theme, Blask is compact – minimal – and presents well.
It also has an area in the footer for widgets.
Also, unlike most of the new block-themes, images are presented as uploaded; that is, using the Twenty Twenty-Two theme (for instance), portrait oriented images are enlarged to fill the width, making them far too tall. If one reduces the width in the template (site editor), then the landscape oriented images become narrow, as does, in particular, any image pattern block already in use.
The only drawbacks with Blask, in my opinion, are:
– it could be wider, allowing for more broadly displayed image pattern blocks.
– it should accommodate Featured Images on the …/blog
– too many tags displayed offset short text/paragraphs presentation when viewing an individual portfolio item.Like Moka, the Blask theme is one of my all-time favorites!
At present, due to the aforementioned display of images being modified to fit theme dimensions with block themes, I periodically switch between the Twenty Twenty-One & Seedlet themes.
Thank you.
