Blavatar HELP!

    I’m really excited about having my very own blog on WordPress.com and found a way to change my website’s icon (blavatar). I had in mind for a icon with two letters (my initials – S and F) with a transparent background.
    I used Photoshop to create that then saved the image under “Save for Web” and the setting PNG-24 (the image has white and grey boxes behind the two letters because I wanted to make it transparent).

    But when I upload it to wordpress.com it doesn’t come out like I want it to. My picture next to my username is what I want my blavatar to look like, only without the background so the white square box doesn’t show (I don’t like that).
    Please, can someone help me tell me what I might be doing wrong? :) Any help would be much appreciated.

    P.S. When I say the blavatar icon isn’t working I mean that the two letters aren’t clear, instead of looking like “SF” they’re really bad quality.
