Blavatar not displaying correctly in browser tab
-
I recently uploaded a new blavatar to use for my wordpress.com blog. But it is not displaying correctly in the tab of my browser. But it displays fine in wordpress tab in the top left of the window. The size of the image is 200×200. Is there a better size to use? The blog I am referring to is audreyrosephoto.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

After reading that, I found that my problem was that I had uploaded a png that had a transparent background. Is there any way to use an icon with a transparent background, so you don’t have to have a white square around the icon?
-
Yes, you can upload logos with transparent backgrounds, but your logo in particular has thin lines in it that can’t be seen well on a transparent background at such a small size.
One suggestion, though: if you used the logo I see beside your username (letters on grey circle, on a transparent background), you might like the results better than the white square.

Yes, the logo that is next to my username is the one I used originally. But it was still not displaying correctly. But when I took the exact same image and just changed the background to be white instead of transparent, it displayed correctly, but with the white square.
-
I do remember seeing your original when you posted this thread. Is there transparency to the grey circle, or is it just a flat colour? The grey may also have been blending in with the grey of the browser tab you were looking at.
-
I have now changed the icon to be like the icon next to my username. It has the gray circle behind it, which has no transparency- just a flat color. But it is still displaying incorrectly as before. You can see it on the site now.

update: I just checked it again, and it seems to be displaying correctly now. Not sure what changed.
-
I can see that the grey circle is displaying correctly when I check your site using the Opera browser, because Opera displays the icon on a white background in the address bar.
I’ve uploaded a screenshot for you to take a look at.
I think that circle is just blending in with the grey browser tab backgrounds you and I were looking at in other browsers. Frustrating, I know! The real problem at this display size is the small, delicate nature of your logo type.

I have gotten it display correctly now, but am having an issue with the icon being very pixelly. I am using a dark color for the circle now, so it is easier to see against the browser gray background. But the edge of the circle is very pixelly when it shows up in the browser tab. The size of the icon is 1024×1024. Is that too big?
-
No, that’s not the problem: there just aren’t enough pixels in the shrunk-down display (regardless of how you upload the image) to display smooth lines that are so thin.
