Blavatar on new blog won't take…

I have been running one blog on wordpress for a couple of years and it very nicely has a Blavatar – I see it in the URL bar, I see it when I go into Settings/General over on the right.
For my new blog that I started last week, I have uploaded a Blavatar a whole bunch of times and it hasn’t ever “taken” – it doesn’t show in Settings/General at all. I upload and crop my image and then I get a blank page that says my blog icon has been uploaded and should start appearing soon. However, even after days and days, it’s not in my Settings/General page.
What could be going wrong? I’ve done it both at work (behind firewall) and at home (standard home internet) so it’s not just a security thing.
Thanks for any suggestions – I don’t see this asked any place in the forums and didn’t find any troubleshooting hints for it in the help section on Blavatars.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Uploading a Blavatar does not result in an instantaneous display. It can take several days before it displays. By repeating the uploading over and over you created and even longer delay. If the image contains transparency it will render as being blacked out. For the best practices for uploading avatars/gravatars/blavatars scroll down to below the video.

P.S. Read the FAQs as it contains common questions and answers to them.
