Blavatars on reblogs; sometimes mine, sometimes OP
-
Why do reblogs sometimes not show my blavatar but the OP blavatar — with my added comments ..? This happens about every other time; readers see the OP blavatar two times…
And, in LinkedIn my comments also differ in copied content/fields.Wish this could be editable OR a little bug gets fixed; looks a bit silly now.
TIA!

In cases like this, it helps a ton to see a specific example. I looked at your blog and found this recent post:
http://maverisk.wordpress.com/2014/11/07/the-real-revolution-in-online-education-isnt-moocs/The first thing I want to do is re-state the problem:
In the example linked above, I see that your comments begin with “Just finished the scheme of Nov 6th, now this…” and display the HBR Gravatar next to them but link to http://maverisk.wordpress.com/author/mwagnerhbr-2/ while the reblog portion just below your comments have the correct HBR Gravatar and starts with the text “Originally posted on.”
I did try opening the HBR article at https://hbr.org/2014/10/the-real-revolution-in-online-education-isnt-moocs but I just saw an error: https://cloudup.com/cWGR3uvu9ct
In comparison, I see the correct behavior at http://maverisk.wordpress.com/2014/11/07/let-it-go/ with your
So, I can see what you are talking about. Next, I looked through several of the other recent reblogs on your site, and one odd thing I noticed is that only the HBR links are the only ones with problems. So I’m not sure it’s something that’s happening intermittently, but might be a problem with certain sites only.
Can you find any other examples on your site where the original post was not HBR?

Are you thinking this is related to the same issue? Can you link to a specific example on LinkedIn or include a screenshot showing the problem and including the full browser window?

I just checked https://hbr.org/2014/10/the-real-revolution-in-online-education-isnt-moocs again, and it’s working for me now. So it looks to me like there were some temporary network problems with that link from my location, and I’m wondering if the problem you described only happens if you try reblogging at a time when you (or our servers) happens to run into a network glitch like that one.
So it would be good to see other examples from different domains as close to the time the error happens as possible.

Thanks for the research designsimply…! It appears to happen with reblogging from HBR only indeed. Do they have some specific contract with WP.com through which they are added as authors (apparently mwagnerhbr-2 is) to my blog …? I don’t mean this with a negative tone against ‘all things commercial’ or so — would just clarify how this happened.
By the way, now that you hammered it down to this (apparently) HBR-only issue, let’s just let it rest with a big, very big Thank You!

Qua LinkedIn: [screen shot wouldn’t capture the variation in one pic] The update text paragraph lists [myblogurl] [gravatarname] [added comments to the reblog]. That [gravatarname] is HBR then, too. Probably similar to my previous ’cause’ conclusion …
Many thanks again!

Of course not. :) But it does seem like a rather odd glitch.

Whew, yeah. It even seems like a temporary HBR-only problem to me, because of the error I noticed earlier https://cloudup.com/cWGR3uvu9ct
So, unless it starts happening to other domains, I think for now we can count it as a temporarily glitch that will hopefully not be a problem for other domains or for HBR once those errors on their site are resolved.
Sorry it was a problem on a couple of your reblogs!!
