Blavatars vs Avatars

After reading the information about avatars, blavatars and gravatars, I’m confused? Are they all the same picture? Specifically, how can I remove and replace my photo that appears in the little box on my browswer tab for my blog? I’d like to use a different symbol in that box (one that I’ve chosen or the W in a circle) but still use my photo elesewhere in my blog. Is this possible? Jay

The image that appears next to your URL is your blavatar. It also appears next to your pingbacks/trackbacks. You can change that image under Settings > General.

I’m having the same trouble as jholladay, getting the photo next to my URL gone and replaced with another. The day I started my blog I went to Settings > General, and loaded Photo A. The next day I wanted to change it to Photo B but I didn’t think to unload Photo A. I just uploaded Photo B. I tried logging out and back in but no go. Photo A remained next to my URL. I waited a day and tried unloading and reloading but still no go. Hope I didn’t “break” anything on my first day ;-) Anyway, so how do I get out of this mess?

We need a link to your blog, starting with http, and also which image is Photo A, which is Photo B, etc. That way we can say “I see a cute puppy” and you can say “That’s the old one, it’s supposed to be Marilyn Manson” or whatever.

Photo A is blonde. Photo B is a dark. Dark rules.

I see a dark photo, a smaller part of your header image it looks like. Blavatars can take up to two days to settle in, and appear to different parts of the world at different times.

Photo B was uploaded via the Settings > General Blog photo area and does indeed have the same colors as the header. So in case this helps you, I’ve uploaded Photo B as “zanzinece_b” to the Media section. It also exists as “zanzinece” there, too, but that image is full size, not cropped. OK, there’s that info if you need it; otherwise, I’ll do the waiting thing : )

I’m back here with an update. The tenacious Photo A is still showing up next to my URL and it’s been a week since we wrangled with this. I’d be glad to continue to exercise my patience if I knew thre was hope for Photo B showing up. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I see a box with light blue on the right and dark silhouettes on the left, that looks similar to your header. Is that the photo you want?

Thanks, rosclarke, for your superfast response. What you wrote jogged something loose and I figured out what the problem was. You and everyone but me sees the right photo. I just needed to reset cookie and cache and restart browser, et voila! OK, so I’m done with this Photo A and B stuff :-D

Is it possible the NEW bloggers do not have this option?
The following changes appear on my “general” tab in settinga, in this order and nothing else…
Blog Title
Tagline
Language
E-mail address
Timezone
Date Format
Time Format
Week Starts OnThere is no reference to blavatar, avatar or other capacity to add or change any profile phots.
Please explain how to do this.

I’m with Jeffnix. There is no where to change my avatar, blavatar, gravitar, whatevertar. Not at the top right, not on the list on the left, not at the top, not at the bottomr, middle or sides. Noewhere.
Help please?
