Blink template

Hello, I was about to purchase the ‘Blink template’ to use for our business website and just notices that it is for ‘blogging’ as apposed to ‘website’. Can we use it more like a static website? We like the elegant theme that allows us to tell your stories in a visually stunning way.

    Cheers,
    Ellen

    Hi Ellen,

Hello, I was about to purchase the 'Blink template' to use for our business website and just notices that it is for 'blogging' as apposed to 'website'. Can we use it more like a static website?

The theme can be used as a Business static website. The recommendation is for a blog, but if you think it serves your purpose, you can use it as a Business website, as you can control the content the way you want it.

Also, note if you purchase a Premium theme Premium theme it would be available for the lifelong of the blog. You also have an option to use Premium themes by subscribing as a Premium or Business Plans user. The plans would give you the option to switch between themes anytime.

We like the elegant theme that allows us to tell your stories in a visually stunning way.
You can use any theme if it suits your requirement.
Here are some options for Business themes ––you can have a look at them here:

Hope this helps, let me know if you need any further information.

    Thanks!

Hello thank you for your reply.

Dose that mean you can remove the:

    1. comments that scroll at the bottom the page ?
    2. previous post and next post
    3. tags?
    4. uploading dates
    5. can you decide to swoop design templates?

We just want to use it as a static website with large typography.

    Thank you,
    Ellen

sorry also can we load up our own fonts?

  • Unknown's avatar

and would you recommend open or true type?

    Hi again Ellen,

Thank you for the questions further.

1.comments that scroll at the bottom the page?

Comments can be managed for the posts. You can disable and enable comments at your convenience. Refer to this document:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-and-disable-comments-for-published-posts-and-pages/

    2. previous post and next post

As you are looking for a Business website, it might be more suitable to use Pages.
You can learn more about Posts and Pages here:

    Pages vs. Posts

Also, the “Previous and Next Post” depends on the theme. Usually, all themes take care of this. If you use pages, then this would not be a problem. There is a feature to manage the infinite scroll for loading of posts too.

    3)tags?

Tags are features of Posts, and you can control them as well as per your convenience. You can display them or not use them as per your requirement. You can learn more about Tags here:

    Organize Posts with Tags

    4)Uploading dates

Dates display can are manageable with the theme. Mostly, all latest themes have the option to manage the “Display Date”. The content options of the theme will help you control it. Most new themes have the possibility. You can learn more about it here:

    Customizer: Content Options

5)can you decide to swoop design templates?

I don’t completely understand your question, do you mean can we switch between templates(themes). Yes, you can easily switch between themes anytime, the Switch theme section explains it here:

    Themes

We just want to use it as a static website with large typography.

You can use it as per your convenience. You can setup all the content in pages as per your requirement. Here is a useful guide which could just give you some quick tips for a Business website:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/tutorials/business-website-tutorial/
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/making-a-business-website/

sorry also can we load up our own fonts?

To load your own font’s you would require the Premium or Business plan.

and would you recommend open or true type?

I don’t understand this question, can you provide more details.

Hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any further questions.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you again for your email, it is so helpful. Especially when we are just about to purchase!

    5) can you decide to swoop design templates? Yes meant switch switch between themes anytime at any time just in case the BLINK template (for bloggers) turns out no to be quite right.

    6) sorry also can we load up our own fonts?

Is the BLINK template a Premium or Business plan?

    7) would you recommend open or true type?

Each company has made independent extensions to TrueType, which is used in both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. Like Type 1, the TrueType format is available for development of new fonts. OpenType is a new standard for digital type fonts, developed jointly by Adobe and Microsoft.

    Best wishes,
    Ellen

    Hello Ellen,

    5) can you decide to swoop design templates? Yes meant switch switch between themes anytime at any time just in case the BLINK template (for bloggers) turns out no to be quite right.

If you buy a Premium theme, it is then permanently available for your site. You won’t be able to switch between themes. It is better to be subscribed for one of the Paid Plans. My suggestion would be you can start with the Premium Plan and then switch to Business as per your requirement. I see in your next reply you have already purchased the theme. You can get a full refund of the purchase. It is stated in the support section(How To Get a Premium Theme) on this support document page:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/premium-themes/

    6) sorry also can we load up our own fonts?

Is the BLINK template a Premium or Business plan?

The Premium and Business plan offers Custom Fonts. You can read more about Custom fonts here:

    Change Your Site’s Fonts

As stated WordPress.com partners with Typekit for fonts. Adobe is a parent company of “Typekit” so all the fonts should mostly be supported. You can take a look at their website, and you should be able to find the find the fonts or similar to the ones you are looking.

If you go through the supported fonts, you should be able to find the collaborated open fonts supported jointly by Adobe and Microsoft too.
Do let me know for any further questions or if the fonts are not available.

I've gone ahead and purchased the BLINK template so that we can get started.

You can cancel the Purchase of the Premium theme(Blink) and go for a Premium plan which would best suit your requirement for Fonts and Switch themes(templates) and domain credit as well.

    that it reads:

    endrim.wordpress.com

When we launch the would like it to read:

    Home
    Does the WordPress. disappear ?

You get a domain credit on all WordPress Paid Plans. With the credit, you can register a new domain or Map your Existing Domain. Looking at your domain(www.endrim.com) seems to be already purchased. You can then just Map it to your link on WordPress.com. So it will read –– http://www.endrim.com.
You can learn more about it here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Also, I am tagging the staff to remove your Personal Information, i.e., transaction ID and Invoice receipt. It should not be visible on a Public platform.

Note: You would also get Email and Live Chat support with the paid plans to help you personally.

Hope the above information was helpful. Please feel free to post any further queries, would be happy to assist you further.

    Thanks! :)

  • @endrim I’ve removed your transaction ID info since these are public forms and that is private information.

@pavanraheja has offered good advice here. I would clarify one thing: having purchased a premium theme, you can change themes on your site, however if you wanted to switch to a different premium theme you would need to purchase that as well.

I would also like to emphasize that to use your own domain and accomplish some of the extra customization you mentioned here, you would need WordPress.com Premium, which comes with access to all premium themes – if you’ll let us know right away, we can refund Blink, and you could get access to it (and any other premium theme) through the Premium plan.

Also on Fonts Premium and Business do give you access to more, but not all, Typekit fonts. With Business you could use any web font you if you have a license.

Please let us know as soon as possible whether you’d like to refund the theme and just get Premium.

    Hello,

Its been a few weeks since I purchased the Blink template.

I about to begin designing the website with images and text.

I can not locate the working template in the back end before publishing.

Where do I start begin to add contact and images etc?

    Thank you,
    Ellen

    Hello,

    1. I have found the template but it is asking me to pay for the template which we have already done? Re: WordPress.com Receipt #24914571

    2. Why is the template not attached to ‘my site’?

    3. Also why is it showing that we have 2 websites?:

    endrim.wordpress.com
    endrimcom.wordpress.com

    4. What is the difference and which one is attached to the Blink template design?

We are finding this all very confusing.

    Best wishes,
    Ellen

    Hello again,

So I have managed to upload a few test images…

    1. Where do you find this working file, when I am ready to go back to it?

    2. When saving this template – how can I make sure it is ‘not’ going ‘live/published’ – while we are in working stage?

    3. As mentioned earlier – we would like to use ‘Blink’ as a ‘static’ website, that being said – how do we:

3a. Remove: Submit a comment script title and comment bar?

3b. Remove: Black bar at base with Endrim icon and name?

    4. How do we remove/ customzie – ‘proudly power by WordPress?

    5. We have researched uploading images, you recommend RGB/PNG…
What is the recommended ‘size’ and ‘pixel’ resolution?

    6. Is it possible to move the embbeded logo around on the home page?

    Thank you,
    Ellen

  • @endrim for now since you have premium I am removing and refunding the Blink purchase. You don’t need both for one site, since Premium comes with Blink.

Since many of your questions will be fixed with one or two steps, I’ll just give those steps and you can let me know what else you need help with.

    – You somehow set up more than on website. Remove the one you don’t want and that will clear up several issues. You can delete it permanently here:
    https://wordpress.com/settings/general/endrimcom.wordpress.com

(Be sure you never delete a site that you do want though, even if you want to start over.)

About configuring your theme. You mentioned you want it as a static site. Blink is designed for blogging, but here’s what its static page looks like:
    https://blinkdemo.wordpress.com/a-static-page/

If you’d like a page like that as you home page, head to WordPress.com/page and create it. You can call it Home or whatever you’d like, then set it as a home page. Please use these steps and this video for more details: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

If you don’t like that style of static page, let’s first confirm whether a different theme would be a better fit. No need to tailor something you’re not going to use.
