blissful theme featured content slider not showing

  hi, I’ve chosen the blissfull theme for my blog. now I’d like to set the featured content slider on my home page, but I can’t make it work. I’ve done all the steps given here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/blissful-blog/ yet the slider doesn’t appear.

  “add a featured post tag in Appearance → Customize → Featured Content, set a featured image on your favorite posts and tag them with the featured tag you chose.”

  may it have to do with the fact that I have a static page as my homepage?

  The blog itself, not a static page.
