Block conversion in new Editor causes permaent, uncorrectable format damage
-
Each time I have posted a question here I have received solutions. For the sake of those (very few) who actually read what I publish, thank you for those solutions. I hope the same is true for this question as the consequences of not getting a solution appear at the moment to negatively affect every additional post and/or page I will publish and/or edit in the future. That would suck, so here is my question. I have resisted converting my pages (hundreds of them) and posts (very few of those) to Blocks in the new Editor because of the resulting formatting damage caused by doing so. What’s really tragic is that my pages are far from formatically advanced (I am not seeking to entertain but merely to inform readers) yet the very simple text and hypertext insertions on each page are permanently and irretrievably corrupted whenever I attempt to convert pages to Blocks. I have tried several test pages containing very little information and then today — due to another unsolvable problem using the old Editor — I converted an entire published page to Blocks, and not only is the original problem still there but now I have myriad, insolubale (at least to my level of editing experience) formatting corruptions on that page as well. I was unable to re-convert the page back to pre-Block format and I cannot manually correct most (maybe all) of the auto-generated formatting errors either. What are my options, if any, to either retain Blocks and manually remove the auto-generated corruptions (which would be a *massive* editing project — taking *weeks* of full-time attention if I were to attempt to convert every page on my site to Blocks) or reconvert the one corrupted page back to pre-Block editing format and then try to solve the original textual insertion problem using the original Editor?

Hi, would you be willing to share one page that’s given you this trouble, so we can see what you see?
Also, have you checked revisions to see if you can revert the changes?

Thank you for your reply, supernovia. Yes, I had tried Revisions but those are all displayed in HTML (at least on my screen) and I have never used HTML so I am clueless as to how to edit with it.
As for the formatting corruptions, I am no longer able to generate them to display to you because WordPress has disabled the Switch to Blocks? option on my Editor (which, prior to my having posted this question, was appearing each time I opened the Editor). Since I don’t want to switch to Blocks (as I said in my OP, that is what causes the formatting corruptions), this is an improvement and an apparent solution to my problem… IF I am able to Edit all my pages w/o switching to Blocks (as I said above, the one non-test page I attempted to convert to Blocks became uneditable using the original Editor a couple weeks ago, so I was essentially forced to convert it to Blocks just to be able to edit it). I have not had any other pages fail to edit using the original Editor since this problem occurred so I am satisfied with the current condition of the Editor.
