My latest blog was difficult to get done because every time I went back to it Block editor said it was lost. I couldn’t get it back and had to start over. I wrote what I wanted, copied it into Word, and then pasted it into block editor the next time. Then I finally found the classic editor and finished there.
However, every time I want to edit in classic, I’m told that the piece was started in block; and, if I don’t use block, all will be lost. When, in reality, everything is lost because of using block.
Then I published my piece and it published the raw version with HTML in front of the actual version. Which I then had to edit again and remove all the HTML.

Can you tell me what browser is in use please and also can you tell me if you have any browser extensions running. In particular, anything that blocks ads please.
Also, are you writing any content outside of WordPress in the first instance?

I’m usually on my PC running Windows 10 and using Firefox.
There are ad blockers in place, yes.
No, I’m writing entirely within WP, unless I have to copy to Word in order to save what I wrote.
If necessary, I’ll write in Word. But I find that to be a pain.
If I’m not on my PC, I’m on an Apple iPad Air Pro 2 using Safari.

Let’s focus on your PC for now and then we can look at your iPad after.
On your PC, if you turn off the ad blocker (or whitelist wordpress.com so the blocker does not work on that site) does it resolve your issue?
If you still see the issue, what if you try a different browser, like Google Chrome or Edge/Internet Explorer instead? Is it the case that you have the same issue no matter what browser you use on your PC? Or does the issue seem to happen only in Firefox?
