Block Editor: How to open image in new tab
-
Just trying the block editor for the first time. I’ve spent a good 30 minutes trying to find out how to have an image open in a new tab when clicked or tapped. Have not been able to find that info in the editor or online. Can this even be accomplished and if so how?
Thanks.

Hi, would you send a link to the affected post or page? We’ll take a look to see what you’re seeing.

Thanks.
I didn’t publish the page using the block editor. I went back to the classic editor.
I think I figured out that unlike the classic editor, when you preview a page in the block editor images will not open in a new tab. In order to get them to open in a new tab you must first actually publish the page. Is that correct? If this is true it seems rather idiotic to me. Preview means before publishing, not after.
I am also having difficulty figuring out how to upload images to the media library. I don’t see any easy way to do that.

To add files directly to the media library, not through a post or page you’re writing/editing, please follow this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/media/

Thanks.
I was in Full Screen mode in the block editor and the options shown in the tutorial are not available in Full Screen mode that I can see. The tutorial doesn’t say anything about leaving the Full Screen mode to upload images.
It may not seem like it but I have been using WordPress for years and have created hundreds of pages with hundreds of images. I’m not used to Full Screen mode or the block editor, however. When I searched online for help I did not unearth the tutorial to which you referred either. I also don’t see any link to the tutorial in the interface. Am I missing that?
Is there a way to add multiple images to the library from the Full Screen mode in the block editor or do I have to switch out of Full Screen mode?

Can you be sure you’re searching at https://wordpress.com/support/ ?
That should be your go-to source as it will have the most up-to-date info for our services. If you were searching elsewhere it likely wouldn’t include information on our interface.
There are ways to add multiple images while in full screen mode. For example, try adding a gallery block. It’ll bring up a drag and drop interface that you can dump your images into.
If you’re trying to add multiple images but not use a gallery, send more details so we can help you sort it out.

I get confused between wordpress.com and wordpress.org. I should bookmark the link you provided. Then I have to remember where to find the link. LOL.
There are lots of pages not affiliated with WP that have instructions and tutorials. Sometimes I Google what I’m looking for and those pages are returned and not the official wordpress.com site.
The official site isn’t always helpful. I think I wrote above that the instructions on uploading to the media library do not say you need to leave the full page view, but it appears you do. I wasn’t talking about adding images to a page or post, but rather just uploading them to the media library. I’ve got that worked out now.
Thanks for your help.
