Block Editor Image Alignment Issues
-
Firstly, where’s classic editor?
With that out of the way, the block editor is awful. There are extra steps to do things that didn’t require them before (e.g. adding an image, making headings, inputting categories/tags), so great job, wordpress developers.
In any event, the issue du jour:

No matter how I edit some (not all) images, they just won’t properly align. I would appreciate some advice (and no, I’m not upgrading to do plug-ins, not when I’ve just started).
Cheers,

I recently faced similar issues with image alignment in the Block Editor, and here’s what worked for me. The quickest fix is to use the toolbar alignment options (Left, Center, Right, Wide, or Full). If you want text to sit neatly beside the image, the Media & Text block works much better than a simple image block. For multiple images side by side, the Gallery or Columns block gives a cleaner layout. In some cases, when the alignment looks fine in the editor but breaks on the live site, it’s usually theme CSS interfering—using a Group block or adding small custom CSS can solve it. These methods helped me get consistent alignment across different layouts, so hopefully they’ll work for you too.

Hi Findingfoodfluency!
I wanted to briefly confirm that @landstellarf70bbcd025’s thoughts are correct! The alignment you’re seeing is part of your active theme (Twenty Sixteen) styling.
From the theme description:Overhanging Full-Size Image
https://wordpress.com/theme/twentysixteen
Have you ever wanted to show off your large images without sacrificing the post’s readability? On a large screen, full-sized images wider than or equal to 840px overhang the column.I’ve reached out via email to share some alternative theme suggestions, and also address some of your other questions. Can you check your email inbox and reply to us there for more help? Thanks! 🙂
