Block editor is AWFUL
-
I am beyond frustrated. I am simply trying to indent text into a post and I can’t. I have spent a few HOURS trying to figure this out and I am at wits end. We don’t all want the “block” function. I customize every post. I had some time where I wasn’t tremendously active on my few blogs but now I can’t get active again because I simply can’t figure out how to make the posts look even remotely like I used to – and they are simply unattractive and I have given up. I have spent significant time and effort on the few blogs I maintain – and to me a few hundred followers is gold. I chose wordpress in the first place because it was easy. Now, it is beyond difficult and I can’t do figure out how to do simple things like change font size or indentation. I really don’t understand where the functionality all went. And how can WP claim that it is better? How can they claim all the functionality is there?
How in the name of all that is holy, do I get in this stupid block editor, the option to indent text?????

How indeed. It really is inexplicable.

The Classic Editor is still available to all WordPress.com users, and it’s still free. Here’s the Classic Editor support page, and the recently revised How to Access the Classic Editor section of that support page.

I’d guess that it’s possible to do it more or less as you’ve done it before in the so-called “Classic Block,” but I haven’t tried. My allergy to that editor prevents me from going near it.

Hi there,
How in the name of all that is holy, do I get in this stupid block editor, the option to indent text?????
As @musicdoc1 mentioned, the classic block gives you the option to indent paragraphs just as the classic editor did:

First – I am a wordpress.org user – so the options @musicdoc1 mentioned aren’t available. Second – I tried and tried – but what @darneldibbles wrote isn’t helpful. I was on my iPad – which is the way I used to post all the time. But the “classic” block was clicked and I still can’t figure it out. That’s why I liked the classic editor – it was easy to figure out. This block thing… yeah, not so much. I see I can get to the classic editor on my desktop but that makes posting on the go impossible when I can’t figure it out on my iPad.
Changes that make things harder shouldn’t be the norm. At least if WP stopped trying to sell it and stopped trying to convince me that it’s awesome – just admit the flaws and that this is a step BACKWARDS for people who don’t learn/function in a “visual” way (I am traditional words, not blocks) I might not feel so disappointed and despondent.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
