Block editor – synchronization

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
I would like to ask you to synchronize the Czech translation of the block editor (left menu – Block inserter). I tried to translate the blocks that are in the original, but a lot of them are already translated and approved. The translated strings have not been published.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

I tried to translate the blocks that are in the original, but a lot of them are already translated and approved.

Could you share a link to those strings in particular? We’ll have a look.

    Hello,
I tried to find a few strings. The blocks are a strange mix of Czech and English strings. You can see the overview in the Google Doc below.

    Approved, but not published translations

  • Hi there,

    Thanks for that list.

I’ve asked our translations team to look into this. I’ll let you know as soon as I get a reply from them.

  • I’ve heard back from our translations team. It turns out the block editor doesn’t use translations from translate.wordpress.com, but instead pull those in from translations for the Gutenberg plugin on translate.wordpress.org:

    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/gutenberg/stable/cs/default/

The older translations you listed in your Google Doc were originally made for the classic editor, and are not automatically applied to the block editor.

If you’re willing, please contribute the missing translations directly to the Gutenberg plugin at the link above (you’ll need a WordPress.org username account to contribute there). Once you’ve added the translations, let us know, and our team can reach out to a plugin translation editor on WordPress.org to get those plugins approved.

    It’s a bit of a complicated system :-)

I added strings to WordPress.org translation page. (By the way that page work faster than translate.wordpress.com).

  • Thanks for adding the translations there.

Our team recommends that you now request a translation review. That will alert the translation editors for this language that there are strings waiting for review – as on WordPress.com, the validators on WordPress.org are volunteers who do this in their free time, and a translation review request is the best way to make sure they see the new translations :)
