Block Editor vs Classic Editor
-
I have been trying for a week to create a web page and I can tell you from experience that the new Block Editor is totally and completely unusable. No content can be entered into any block on the page. It is the WORST editor I have ever seen and I don’t know why WordPress is forcing us to use something that clearly doesn’t work The classic editor was easy to use. It was a wonderful editor and the reason why I chose WordPress. I cannot waste anymore time trying to use an unusable editor. And worse yet, there is not even a tutorial. If I can’t get the old editor back, then I will have to switch from WordPress to another site.

We have tips for transitioning from the classic editor to blocks https://wordpress.com/support/switching-from-the-classic-to-the-block-editor/ and FAQs: https://wordpress.com/support/replacing-the-older-wordpress-com-editor-with-the-wordpress-block-editor/#frequently-asked-questions
And, if you really want to use something like the classic editor, we recommend sticking with the classic block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/classic-block/
We also have some extensive documentation available at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/
If you have any feedback on the new editor, we’re always looking for ways to improve it, so please let us know!

Well, I wish this had the option of sending a screenshot. Since it doesn’t, I will try to describe the problem. With the new editor, I select “new page” and then “add new”. I select “use blank layout.” I type in the title. I click on “+”, choose “paragraph” and then “ctrl + v to add content that has already been formatted in Google Drive. And then nothing–I cannot use the cursor, no content can be typed in, the page goes blank, the page cannot be published, etc., nothing else is possible. In other words, the new Block Editor is unusable. It does not work. It is useless to me. On the old editor I could enter a table that is already formatted by clicking on the HTML tab. This editor does not work.

Try switching to the Code Editor following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/#more-options

Hi there, are you using Google docs to write your posts? If so, have you tried the WordPress extension for Google docs which lets you publish directly from Google to your WPcom site? https://apps.wordpress.com/support/#faq-googledocs-1
I haven’t tried it since the switch to the Block Editor last August, so YMMV
