Block editor won't save

    Ever since yesterday’s update, my blog posts will no longer save on the wordpress.com block editor. I get an error “Updating failed. An unknown error occurred.” The same post with the same content will save just fine on the classic editor. This wouldn’t be a problem, but I’ve only just recently started using the block editor and I’ve gotten a bit used to the added functionality of it. I use chrome as a browser. Out of curiosity, I checked if it works in Edge, and it seems to save just fine there – but I most definitely do NOT want to switch to using Edge. Please help!

    Please try the following:

    * Clear Chrome’s cache:

    https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050

    * Check that JavaScript is enabled:

    http://enable-javascript.com/

    * Disable any ad-blocking and security browser extensions

    * Check that you’re using the latest version Chrome.

    That seems to have worked. I’ll let you know if I continue to have issues, but for now, it’s saving.

    Same problem here but the solutions listed above didn’t fix anything, I’m “not allowed” to save any changes to my posts.

    I think the problem apparead together with the new black bar at the left of the screen listing previous articles.

  • Hm, I’m not seeing any problems there myself.

    First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

    If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

    If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

    Already did this and it was working like a charm before the last update of wp.com …

    Browser is Chrome Version 84.0.4147.125 (Build officiel) (64 bits)

    Can’t edit posts in block editor : “Mise à jour échouée. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post.”

    If I go in the dashboard to Draft posts, there is a count of 4 but they don’t appear in the list.

    And furthermore the Notification “bell” at the upper right of the screen fails to load any messages.

    So I logged off my wp.com account, quit Chrome and stopped it in the task bar of Windows.
    Then relaunched Chrome, logged in my wp.com account and now it seems to be okay…
    to be followed…
