Block pop up ads on my blog
-
Is there a way to block ads from appearing on my site? I’ve had my author blog/site with wordpress for several years and I’ve never had ads on it before. They look unprofessional — any way to stop this? I’m not interested in upgrading to a paid account. Help from other bloggers and wordpress administrators is most welcome!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only way to ensure no ads ever appear on your site is by upgrading to a paid plan I’m afraid. WordPress.com have to cover the costs of the bandwidth used by free plans on their servers somehow. https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Hi there, Are these ads on mobile or on the web browser? Unless I missed the memo, WordPressdotcom doesn’t use pop-up ads on any site hosted on WordPressdotcom. Can you take a screenshot and add it to your media library and then share the link here so we can have a look?
You might also want to check your mobile and/or computer for any malware infection.

@justjennifer. Good catch. I had a spell of adware in my own browser recently and I only visit the most innocuous sites these days (honest!).

The ads I saw were on a few pages of my website – not mobile. I’ll check to see if there is malware going on.
Thanks for reply!

Hi there,
We do not serve pop-up advertisments on WordPress.com sites, as @justjennifer said above. If you’re seeing pop-up ads those are more likely caused by adware in your browser.
That said, next time you see one, please take a screen shot, upload it to your site’s media library, and let me know. Then we can make sure that it’s not coming from our advertising partners.
