block quote is putting quotation marks around entire text

  • Unknown's avatar

While I appreciate in intent and the look of what they were trying to do — somebody forgot to think about the fact that the automatic close quote around the end of the text screws it up when you want to include the source of the quote. Is there a way around this (preferably without having to buy a custom package)?

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Rick

    Hey there Rick!

The style of the blockquote is coded into your theme. While there isn’t a way to make an adjustment to your quotes without the custom design upgrade, you can either add your source of the quote outside the blockquote (this is what most folks do), or you can find a theme that highlights your blockquotes, but doesn’t add a set of quotation marks.

For instance, a theme such as Cubic highlights blockquotes in an entirely different way than Château.

Let me know if I can help with anything else. Thanks very much!

Hey, Robyn! Always nice to see you — makes it worth it to have a question just to see you show up. :o) Thanks a bunch for your input on this! This theme is perfect for this project so I’ll just stick with it (incredibly, I always manage to find just what I’m looking for in those themes). ;o) I ended up moving that quote out of a block anyway. If this were something I would be doing a good bit of work in, I would go ahead and get the custom design upgrade — but it’s not a big enough project to worry about that.

Thanks again for your help, as always! Hope you’re doing well! :o)
