Blocking a Pest
-
Somebody I unfortunately have known(past tense) keeps writing abusive comments to my blog posts. I marked the first one spam and they now regularly go into the spam category. The whole thing is creepy(he made 23 non stop comments recently on a Facebook forum I moderate and reported it as abuse. He also looks up info on people I know he’s never met). Is there something I can do to totally block him, so anything he writes never gets to me. Or can I report him for abuse. The guy is very unhinged.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Visit this page:
http://yoursite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-discussion.php
(replace “yoursite” with your site name). There, about halfway down, you can blacklist usernamename’s, URL’s, e-mail’s, or IP’s. It will then send any Wp.com blog, you can report him.

That will only prevent him from commenting, which it seems you’ve already done. You can report abuse following the instructions here:
-
There’s really no more staff can do about this than you can, i.e. block his comments using the tools available on the Settings / Discussion tab.
We don’t yet have a button that says “stop this guy from being an obnoxious pain”. Sadly the legal system claims a monopoly on that.
(trivia: “obnoxious pain” was not in my first draft).
