blocking IP-s
-
I started using statcounter recently and I’d like to limit access to my blog- just block some IP-s (not all of them!!!) or put a password on. Is it somehow possible to choose only some readers who can’t access my blog?

To exclude some comments/people:
Settings -> Disscussions -> Comment Blacklist
“…and type in the words in its content, name, URL, e-mail, or IP, it will be held in the moderation queue.”
To make one post private or password protected:
edit post -> publish -> visibility and choose the setting you want -
thanks, but i want to limit access to the WHOLE blog, not just comments and some posts- i mean that the person can’t see my blog at all (i have blocked his/her IP) and everyone else can (because they aren’t blocked)/ everyone has to enter the same password and then can see my blog (not e-mail etc).
is it possible?

Set your blog to private. Then, only people you invite can view your blog. All others will not be able to see it. You can have up to 35 users that you can invite. If you need more, there is a paid upgrade.

:D
the thing is that i don’t want to INVITE readers- StatCounter shows that i have a number of readers and although i have no idea who they are, i don’t want to block them. only some readers i already know and don’t want them to read.

@murakamoos,
You keep using the backtick character as an apostrophe. I’m fixing your responses.` vs ‘

I don’t think there is a way to block only some readers from your blog if it is public. If you don’t want a private blog, perhaps it’s not wise to post things you wouldn’t want everyone to read.

Blocking by IP isn’t really a solution since each time I reboot my DSL modem, I get a different IP address, and anyone who is still on dial up gets a new IP address each time they log in. You would be trying to block a moving target.
