Blocking Semalt from Stats
-
Semalt are persistently spamming my stats and I don’t seem to have the spam blocking option. When I hover over their name nothing happens so I don’t know how to block them. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions? I’m not at all clever with all this, I must add!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unfortunately, the answer you gave in the link doesn’t work. I have no option to block spam. When I hover over the Semalt link, I simply get the Semalt link again.

When you are looking in your stats, you should have a “Spam?” link appear when you hover over the Semalt referrer. It does not appear otherwise.
I just looked at amandascircus as well as your most popular site, and didn’t see any Semalt referrers. Which blog were you unable to remove Semalt from?

Thanks for responding again. There is no spam link when I hover over Semalt. My blog is http://www.amandaoosthuizen.com – which is the same as Amanda’s Circus, I think. Semalt haven’t turned up today, but they have been crawling almost every day recently, and stopped by six times yesterday, and increasingly frequently.
many thanks. -
I clicked the spam link a few days ago and now I don’t have any Semalt referrers.
However, I continue to get a number of visits from South American countries who only look at my home page. I get so few blog hits so its pretty obvious in my stats. My theory is that they are no-longer showing as a referrer but they continue to show as a hit on posts/ pages.

@mandoost The site at http://amandaoosthuizen.com/ is not hosted on WordPress.com, so you will not be able to take advantage of the Spam referrers option, which right now is just available on WordPress.com.
@kelpscotland I can’t explain why you get visits from South America, but realize that if your site is public, you will likely always get some strange visits in your stats. That’s normal and doesn’t indicate anything is amiss.

Thanks for the prompt response Jackie. I’m happy for my blog to be public and visited by whoever is interested. My blog has a portfolio theme and therefore there is little point in looking at the home page alone. I just find it rather weird that in one day I can get hits on my home page only from 7 different South American countries. I think my blog going viral (in a tiny way) in South America is probably unlikely. I’m however happy to let the matter rest and keep it under review.
