Blocking someone

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear Helper,
I want some help regarding a person. There is someone (https://livingbetterlife.net/) who keeps liking my one post (https://feelfreestuff.wordpress.com/2021/06/30/how-to-follow-a-routine-2/) repeatedly although he/she has already liked it. It has been a month since I’m noticing that person do this. I don’t know if that person is doing this intentionally or is innocent and this is some issue on the side of WordPress, but I want to get this thing solved. So I want you to tell me how to block that person from liking my posts, or else in case this is some technical issue, please solve it at your earliest.
    Thanking you,
    Corals.

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

I’ve taken a look and I can’t see this particular site in your notifications.

Do you have an approximate date as to when this happens please?

Also, it’s not uncommon for this to happen for what I’ve experienced thus far.

    Many thanks.

    Hi there,
First of all, thank you very much to reply back. Secondly, in that case I would like to consider this as a technical issue and let it go this time. I actually got that notifications on email rather than on my blog. I really apologize for mentioning the wrong person, because of the confusion of similar names of their websites. The actual websites are healthy lifestyles ( https://healthier-lifestyle-6a4c6c.ingress-earth.easywp.com/ ), Nutritious Mushrooms ( https://nutritiousmushrooms.com/ ) and jhfla2020a (no link to that site provided). I can’t help because I’ve deleted most of it’s notifications/mails and further, I am not able to paste a screenshot from my device here.
To inform, I can manually tell from my saved mails that I’ve got 3 notifications that Nutritious Mushrooms liked my post “How to Follow a routine” and 6 notifications that jhfla2020a liked that post. And all of these mails have been sent on different days. These seem like technical problems to me because as far as I know, we can’t like one’s post more that 1 time.

  • Hi @kvtr12,

Thanks for the clarification. I checked your email log history and see what you are referring to. How long has this been going on? I see at least constant likes from the users you mentioned as much as a month ago.

If it happens again, keep the notifications and we’ll look into this for you.

Let us know about how long this has been going on.

    Thanks!

    @kvtr12,

Hi. It would be better if you give us usernames rather than website names in cases such as this. For example, the fact that username @livingbetterlife2020 has a link to the site https://livingbetterlife.net/ in their Gravatar profile page doesn’t necessarily indicate that it’s their website, or even that they have any connection to it. It could be just a site that they like or want to be associated with.

    Hi Darnell!
Once again you come to my rescue. Thank you so much! The information you asked is as follows:

From user @NutritiousMushrooms I have 3 notifications: on 5 August, 9 August and 22 August.

    From user @jhfla2020a I have 6 notifications: 3 on 19 July, 1 on 6 August, 8 August and 17 August.

These are from the mails i didn’t delete. I’ll surely remember to save these mails and inform you if I get the notifications of likes from the same users again.
    Thanking you,
    Corals

    Hi @musicdoc1,
Thank you for making me aware of this fact. I learned something new. So as per that information, the users are @jhfla2020a and @Nutritious Mushrooms . I don’t know why Nutritious Mushroom’s name isn’t coming up as a user name. Also I’d be really grateful if you could help me with something. In my setting I’ve kept my username as ‘Corals’ but it always shows ‘@kvtr’ , it was maybe my previous username but it doesn’t change. It’ll be really kind of you to let me know if there’s a way to fix this problem.
    Thanking you,
    Corals

  • Hi there,

So as per that information, the users are @jhfla2020a and @nutritious Mushrooms . I don’t know why Nutritious Mushroom’s name isn’t coming up as a user name.

I had a look at those accounts and I couldn’t find evidence of spamming other than the few likes on your posts. Keep an eye on your notifications and if you see a big surge please let us know so we can take another look.

Also I’d be really grateful if you could help me with something. In my setting I’ve kept my username as ‘Corals’ but it always shows ‘@kvtr’ , it was maybe my previous username but it doesn’t change. It’ll be really kind of you to let me know if there’s a way to fix this problem.

kvtr12 is your WordPress.com username whereas Coral is the name you’re using. On WordPress.com usernames are unique but names are not.

So, you can change your username if you like, but you cannot get coral as that one is already registered by someone else.

    @kvtr12,

I don’t know why Nutritious Mushroom’s name isn’t coming up as a user name.

Each of those who Liked the post you linked to above is identified by a Gravatar thumbnail, and each of those thumbnails are linked to their Gravatar profiles. When you point at or hover over a Gravatar at Likes, the URL of the associated Gravatar Profile page shows at the bottom left of the browser window, and the public display name shows in a tooltip.

As indicated by @fstat above, “Coral” is your display name, which can be changed at My Profile > Public display name.

Pardon me, I should have said “Corals” not “Coral.”
