Blocking Specific People from VIewing My Blogs

It seems surprising to me to realize that as amazing as WordPress is in all respects, there doesn’t appear to be a way to block specific people from being able to view my blog. I have some family and ex in-laws who constantly accuse me of falsely discussing family business in my blog, so I have completely changed my blog to accomodate them just to make peace, however they ALWAYS find some reason to complain. It seems feasible to make it so that those specific people simply can’t go on my blog and see anything. I refuse to give up my constitutional right to freedom of speech, but I also do not want to get bombarded any longer with texts, phone calls, emails, and personal attacks on Facebook and other social media sites about my right to discuss whatever I want!

I am going to change.org and starting a petition to influence WordPress to offer the capability of blocking specific viewers. Facebook does this, why can’t a blog site?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The way that Facebook is able to do so is that you must log in to Facebook to view any posts at all. Since you are logged in, Facebook is able to control what you do and do not see within their site. Therefore if you choose to not let your family see certain posts, you can limit the availability of that post.

WordPress.com does not require anyone to log in at all in order to see your site. You can set your site to fully private, allowing only certain people to read what you have posted (those that you give permission to. More information on this option is available right here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/), however since WordPress.com is open to the Internet at large there is no way to limit who sees what site. We would have to create a closed system like Facebook’s in order to do so, a move which we are not currently interested in making.

I hope this clears things up a bit. Let me know if you need some additional information.
